Celestials

Celestials are air-charged Skyfolk. They typically reside in the highlands, forming migratory communities that follow great pillars of cloud that herald the presence of a sky dragon.

Appearance

Celestial skin is typically shades of blue. Communities with a tradition of worshipping sky dragons also tend to adorn their skin with lighter blue or bluish-white markings that resemble those of a sky dragon. They have downy feathers in place of hair and can conjure and dismiss great, silvery feathered wings at will. They can fly for brief periods before tiring. Their eyes glow bluish-white with no discernible iris or pupil.

Culture

Celestials tend to revere the cycles of nature and place a heavy importance on maintaining the integrity of the natural order of those cycles. Celestial communities may observe long lists of taboos that formed to avoid disrupting any natural cycle. These taboos can vary significantly from community to community. Aside from the cycle of arcana, Celestials tend to consider the water cycle to be the purest and holiest of cycles. They consider sky dragons to be the personification of this cycle, and as such, they seek to remain as close to them as possible, living in homes that can be quickly assembled, disassembled, and carried.

Celestials also revere the concept of truth, and their legal system heavily supports due process for accused criminals — however, sentences for convicts are typically excessively harsh. Having little capacity for incarceration in a migratory community, they favor punishments that can be carried out swiftly — such as execution, dismemberment, disfigurement, and exile.

Magic

Celestial magic typically takes the form of conjuring light and lightning, predicting the weather, judging the truth, and healing.
