Stonemagic bears two elemental charges — earth and metal. Earth-charged magic is arche, and metal-charged magic is azoth.

In the cycle of arcana, refining fire heats the forge of the earth and smelts the ores of stone into metal. Arche takes on the flavor of the Stone domain as it reaches its lowest point in the cycle. Arche becomes azoth as fire refines metal from ore.

Stonemagic is an transitory magic of purification, transformation, and creation. Its folk and its wielders understand arche and azoth through a familiarity with the natural and magical laws of the universe. Stonefolk create new objects from raw materials naturally, but human practitioners must learn methods of alchemy and artifice, the harnessing of Stonemagic by careful and measured mixture of specific ingredients and components according to fixed recipes and schematics.

Wielding the power of creation either by innate affinity or through alchemy or artifice converts simple raw materials into complex new devices, tools, potions, and concoctions.
